winnie ho's greatest moment
frankly speaking, we alone would never dream of having a press conference of this scale. ask yourself, how much would it cost to rent 1-utama oval concourse for an event?
thanks to CD-RAMA for making it, for believing is us, for making us look good in front of everyone.
the whole press conference was short and sweet, and effective too, for we delivered the message clearly to the chinese media, who, in the past, really didn't know much about us, and how we engineered this chinese jazz movement.

joann see, the marketing manager of CD-RAMA giving her speech
we talked about this album being the "international musical passport" to launch winnie ho to the international arena, we talked about being the pioneer of chinese jazz movement in this region.
we would like to thank the chinese press/media for turning up in full force. this is the second time we organized press conference without the help of a PR/media agent and we are grateful that the chinese press treats us well.

marketing, marketing, marketing
it is getting very clear to them that pop pop music is one of the very few chinese music labels that still releases albums - and a full-length album with 12 songs to boot - at these very trying times in the music business. they can see that we are sincere in making good music and we are sincere in promoting chinese jazz and malaysian talents.
we mentioned salvador guerzo (ador) in the speech because it is great man like him who inspired us to continue in making great music. we are proud that we captured his best saxophone in the album.
the turn out was good with many of our friends - musicians, supporters, celebrities - taking the time to come to witness this proud moment. of course, the crowd we drew can never be compared to idols like aska yang and jj lin.
one local singer (who quit singing and became a business woman) congratulated us and commented: "winnie is a shining example that you don't need to do chinese pop and be able to survive in malaysia". what brilliant observation it was. this is exactly the message we wanted to deliver too. in music, there is no boundary, every genre of music can sell as long as it is good music.
winnie ho presented a gift to me, a full container of "oats" which means "good sales" in chinese. i acted nonchalant and told her, in front of everyone that, "all i care is you just earn money for me!". i guess that was funny but nonetheless realistic of the nature of the business. you can't go on contributing to the arts and culture, without taking care of the rice bowl.
the road ahead is full of challenges, but with a strong profile like " the jazzy sounds of teresa teng", we are confident we would explore unchartered terratories in chinese jazz, never before explored in the past.
many thanks to everyone who attended the press conference!
p/s of interest is because ZYan the bossa princess has a duet in the album with winnie, it also helped to push the sales of her album "brasileiro" which is already more than one yaer old!
